Poway City Government
The City of Poway was incorporated on December 1, 1980, as a General Law city with a council / manager form of government. This form of government provides for the Council to set policy and give direction on all matters concerning the city. The City Manager is responsible for carrying out City Council policy and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the city.

The Poway City Council consists of 4 council members and the Mayor. They are elected at-large for a 4-year term of office. General Municipal elections are held in November of even-numbered years. There are 2 City Council seats open every 2 years. The Mayor's seat is open every 4 years.

Time & Place of Regular Meetings
Unless canceled, the City Council conducts regular meetings on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m., in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 13325 Civic Center Drive in Poway. Meetings can be viewed on local cable stations: Cox Cable 24 and Time Warner Cable 19 on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays at 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sundays at 3 p.m.

City Council Meeting Agenda materials are available for review in the City Clerk's Office located in City Hall at 13325 Civic Center Drive, Poway. The meeting agenda is posted on the bulletin board in front of City Hall and available on the city website in accordance with the Ralph M. Brown Act. Agendas are also available online.

Obtaining Information
The agenda is prepared and distributed 7 days prior to the meeting date. Copies of the supporting documentation (the staff report) for each item can be viewed and/or purchased at the City Clerk's Office.

All staff reports are also available for public review in an Agenda Binder located in the lobby of the Council Chambers the night of the meeting. If you have questions regarding the contents of a staff report, you may contact the initiating department for further information.

Additional Material & Letters / Information Submitted
Agenda item material received after the Agenda Packet has been posted will be included on an Amended Agenda. These reports and additional materials will be posted to the city's website and available in the City Clerk's Office after 5 p.m. the Friday prior to the meeting.

Please be advised that communication directed to the city, the City Council, and city staff are public records, and are subject to disclosure pursuant to the California Public Records Act and the Brown Act. Communications will not be edited for redactions; they will be printed / posted as submitted, except for personal address, phone number and email address which will be redacted in the interest of privacy.

Information provided at the City Council meeting by the public will be available on the city website in the days following the meeting. In addition, any PowerPoint presentation provided by staff at the meeting will be available on the city website the day following the City Council meeting.

Presentation to the City Council
To allow meetings to progress smoothly, only city staff, city consultants, and Public Hearing Applicants are allowed to make a presentation to the City Council using the overhead document camera, computer-generated presentation, CD, DVD, VCR, and/or cassette tape equipment. AV presentations will not be permitted during the public oral communications portion of the meeting.

Should you wish to submit information pertaining to an agenda item, please provide it to the City Clerk's Office by 12 p.m. the Wednesday prior to the City Council meeting or at the City Council meeting. Providing it prior to the meeting allows staff and the City Council to review the information presented.
